WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: In an appearance on the CIO Podcast, CMA’s David Ford previewed the CMA HIT Summit and discussed state efforts to regulate AI.
California Medical Association (CMA) Vice President of Health Information Technology (HIT) David Ford recently appeared on Healthcare IT Today’s CIO Podcast to preview CMA’s upcoming HIT Summit and discuss California’s experience regulating the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in health care.
Taking place May 6-7 in San Diego, CMA’s 3rd annual HIT Summit will bring together thought leaders, innovators and health care professionals to explore the intersection of health care technology under the theme “Building the Future.”
“By design, we try to create a space that fosters conversation across sectors,” Ford said of the HIT Summit. “The event this year will be heavily about AI. It’s the topic on everyone’s lips, so we are trying to create that space to foster a lot of conversations about what the future looks like.”
Ford and host John Lynn also discussed the current state of AI regulations in health care in California; what other states can learn from California’s experience in this regulation; and what these state regulations could imply for the federal level. You can watch the entire interview on YouTube or on Healthcare IT Today’s website.
As health care continues to evolve through digital innovation and the rise of AI, the HIT Summit will offer a deep dive into the tools, strategies and partnerships shaping the industry. Attendees can expect engaging sessions on AI, health information exchange and Qualified Health Information Organizations (QHIOs), and the evolving role of technology in patient care. The agenda for the event can be found here.
