For more than 20 years, California Medical Association (CMA)-sponsored laws – AB 1455 (2000) and SB 367 (2005) – have prohibited health plans and insurers from engaging in various unfair payment practices. The effectiveness of these laws depends on physicians and their staff being informed and aware of their rights and taking action to stop unfair payment practices when they arise.
CMA recently hosted a free one-hour “Know Your Rights” webinar that provides an overview of the important laws that protect physicians, how to identify and effectively stop unfair payment practices, and how CMA can help. This webinar – Know Your Rights: How to protect your practice from unfair payment practices – is now available for on-demand viewing. It is free for members and their staff, and $99 for nonmembers. (CMA members' staff can email events@cmadocs.org for a promo code for free on-demand viewing.)
