What You Need to Know: California medical students are invited to apply for the next cycle of MedStudents serve. Application opens on Nov. 6, 2024, and will remain open through Jan. 10, 2024.
On November 6, 2024, Physicians for a Healthy California (PHC) will open the fourth application cycle for MedStudentsServe, a program designed to provide funding to medical student organizations for educational, advocacy, community service, and outreach projects. These initiatives aim to improve the health and well-being of communities throughout California.
MedStudentsServe empowers medical student groups, clubs, and projects that go beyond traditional medical education to deliver essential community support. Previous projects have included free vision screenings for uninsured patients, mental health outreach to Indigenous farm workers, facilitating Medi-Cal enrollment for undocumented individuals, free ultrasound services for minorities, and developing culturally sensitive resources for Mixtec-speaking migrant workers. Collectively, these efforts have impacted over 5,194 individuals, demonstrating PHC’s commitment to community health.
The application window will remain open through January 10, 2025, with priority given to projects that address funding gaps not typically covered by medical schools or local sponsors. Don’t miss this opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of underserved populations.
