What You Need to Know: CALPAC for the fifth time in six years shattered all previous fundraising records in its history, raising $245,710 as it launched its 2024-25 membership year.
On Sunday, October 27, 2024, the California Medical Association (CMA) Political Action Committee (CALPAC) for the fifth time in six years shattered all previous fundraising records in its history, raising $245,710 as it launched its 2024-25 membership year at CMA’s 153rd House of Delegates. This record figure represents a nearly 10% increase over CALPAC’s 2023 HOD fundraising total.
CALPAC also reports a record increase in participation this year, exemplified by seven delegations to the House — the Administrative Medicine Practice Forum, Community Health Clinics, Organized Medical Staff Section and geographic Districts 1, 2, 5 and 8 — achieving the milestone of 100% participation from all delegates and alternates in attendance.
District 1 and District 8 were recognized as the winners of CALPAC’s Victory Bell, for having the highest average contribution and highest net total contributed, respectively.
Funds donated to CALPAC go directly to support its political advocacy efforts, which help turn policy decisions into advocacy success. CALPAC also prioritizes working to elect more physicians to office, like Akilah Weber, M.D., who is running for the State Senate this year.
CALPAC also hit an historic total of 10 Diamond Level ($6,500) donors to begin its membership year, from Rene Bravo, M.D., Jack Chou, M.D., George Fouras, M.D., Brian Grady, M.D., Donaldo Hernandez, M.D., John Maa, M.D., Ramin Manshadi, M.D., Tanya Spirtos, M.D., Shannon Udovic-Constant, M.D., and Robert E. Wailes, M.D.
