Noridian fixes system issue resulting in mispriced and denied flu vaccine claims

October 23, 2024

What You Need to Know: Noridian has fixed a system issue resulting in mispriced and denied flu vaccine claims and will automatically be reprocessing claims.

Noridian – California's Medicare contractor – has acknowledged an issue with influenza vaccine codes (G0008-G0009) not processing correctly based on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ influenza season code list. The problem affected claims with dates of service starting August 1, 2024, and caused claims to be mispriced or denied in error.

A system fix has been completed and all incorrectly denied or mispriced influenza codes for this season will be reprocessed. Noridian began initiating mass adjustments to misprocessed claims on September 16, 2024. No action is required at this time.
