Orgs who submit batch transactions to Medi-Cal must register in Provider Portal

October 11, 2024

The California Department of Health Care Services recently announced that effective December 9, 2024, submitters who submit batch ASC X12N 270, 837 or 276 transactions on behalf of Medi-Cal providers will be required to register in the Medi-Cal Provider Portal.

After that date, submitters using legacy IDs beginning with “CMCSUB” will no longer be able to login through Transaction Services and will be required to log in through the Provider Portal. To prevent interruptions in day-to-day electronic transactions with Medi-Cal, submitters are urged to register as soon as possible.

To register for the Provider Portal with a legacy Submitter ID, an authorized representative of your organization should call the Medi-Cal service center at (800) 541-5555 to be issued an electronic registration token. The following information will be required:

  • Submitter ID
  • One NPI currently associated with the Submitter ID
  • Unique email address
  • Valid Phone number

This token will be sent by hard-copy (paper) letter to the pay-to address on file with Medi-Cal. It must be used within 30 days of the date it is issued or it will expire.

For more instructions, see the  Medi-Cal Provider Portal User Guide: Submitter Organization
