PHC announces more than $25k in medical student grants

February 20, 2024

Physicians for a Healthy California (PHC), the charitable arm of the California Medical Association, today announced almost $25,000 in MedStudentsServe awards to support medical student projects across the state that will enhance the health and well-being of California’s communities.

Medical student organizations and groups received money to support projects from developing a mobile app for food insecurity, enhancing cancer survivorship programs, providing health care services for underserved populations, to organizing comprehensive health fairs that address disparities in minority communities.

The MedStudentsServe program aims to develop the next generation of California’s physician leaders. The funds are a part of a program administered by PHC and funded through endowment and restricted funds, which fund medical students or student organizations that support educational, advocacy, community service and outreach programs that enhance the health and well-being of California’s communities.
