CMA welcomes new Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel

June 02, 2022

Sacramento, CA— The California Medical Association (CMA) is pleased to announce that Jamie Ostroff will serve as CMA’s new Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel, leading the association’s legal and regulatory efforts.

Prior to joining CMA, Ostroff served as the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer of Hill Physicians Medical Group, the largest independent physician group in Northern California, where he was responsible for its legal affairs. Before his position with Hill Physicians Medical Group, Ostroff was Associate General Counsel at Blue Shield of California.

“As we face the most sweeping and rapid changes in our health care delivery system, Jamie’s deep understanding of the health care industry and his impressive record of success will help CMA navigate those changes for the benefit of patients and physicians alike,” said CMA CEO Dustin Corcoran. “Jamie is one of the most talented attorneys in the field and we are looking forward to him leading CMA’s legal efforts.”

As General Counsel, Ostroff will lead CMA’s Center for Legal Affairs, defending the rights of physicians in the courts and working to influence health policy created by policymakers, regulatory agencies and the private sector. Ostroff will also help CMA navigate the politics and policy of complex health care issues before federal and state regulators and to drive the public interest mission of the association and its physician members.

Ostroff graduated summa cum laude from Southwestern University School of Law. While in law school, he worked as an intern for the Honorable Harry Pregerson of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and served as a Notes and Comments Editor for the Southwestern University Law Review. Mr. Ostroff serves on the board of directors for CopsDirect, a non-profit organization that provides first aid, trauma and rescue equipment to police and sheriff department throughout the nation.

Ostroff will replace Francisco J. Silva, Esq., who became the President and CEO of the California Primary Care Association in March.
