Update: Be on the lookout for your 2022 ACCME Annual Accreditation Fee Invoice

November 03, 2021
Area(s) of Interest: Continuing Medical Education (CME)

California Medical Association (CMA)-accredited providers should have received an invoice directly from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) for your 2022 State Accredited Providers Fee.

CMA has previously referred to this fee as the “ACCME pass through fee.” ACCME is now directly billing providers for this fee.

The ACCME sent out an invoice to each accredited provider during the last week of October 2021, with payment due January 31, 2022. If you have not received your invoice, please contact info@accme.org to have your invoice reissued.

Two years ago, the ACCME implemented a tiered fee structure for annual accreditation fees to reflect programs of different sizes. Program size is based on the average number of activities or learners, whichever is greater, over the past three years. The fee is based on data you reported for the 2018-2020 reporting years in the Program and Activity Reporting System (PARS) data. Your tier is calculated by the highest of average activities per year or average learner interactions per year, from 2018-2020.

This is a separate fee from CMA’s Annual Accreditation Fee, which will be billed in May 2022. CMA will continue to work with the ACCME to ensure accredited providers comply with fee requirements.
