Hospital Medical Staff Issues Advocacy
With the initiative threat to obliterate the Medical Injury Compensation Reform Act (MICRA) now qualified for the November 2022 ballot, hospital medical staffs across California have begun to donate to the California Medical Association’s (CMA) Political Education Fund, which funds physician outreach efforts among CMA’s membership. This non-profit fund, differentiated from the normal political donations CALPAC receives, is critical to CMA’s work over the next two years to preserve MICRA and protect patient safety.
Hospital medical staffs were critical to the success of CMA’s efforts to protect MICRA in 2014, donating over $3 million. The CMA Political Action Committee (CALPAC) Board would like to thank the following hospital medical staffs and physician fundraising leaders for their financial support in 2020.
