On June 15, 2020, the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) launched a new Medi-Cal website. The initial reception was negative, with delays and confusion about the site navigation. In response, DHCS has posted a video website tour to help providers familiarize themselves with the new website.
One of the most common complaints heard by the California Medical Association (CMA) is that provider updates and bulletins are buried a few clicks deep, rather than being on the front page. To find them, select Publications from the main menu, scroll down to Medical Services, and then choose either General Medicine or Obstetrics. There you will find news and the monthly provider bulletins.
Physicians are also reminded that they can sign up for the Medi-Cal listserv to receive email notifications when updates and reminders released. DHCS has said it is open to feedback on its new website. Physicians who have suggestions for improving the Medi-Cal website are encouraged to contact CMA’s Center for Economic Services at (888) 401-5911 or economicservices@cmadocs.org. Physicians can also reach out directly to provide feedback via Medi-Cal’s Telephone Service Center at (800) 541-5555.
