As previously reported, the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), in partnership with the California Office of the Surgeon General, has created a first-in-the-nation statewide effort to screen patients for trauma and the increased likelihood of ACEs-associated health conditions due to toxic stress.
The ACEs Aware initiative is hosting a live, one-hour webinar on Wednesday, February 26 at 12:00 p.m. Featured guests include:
- Nadine Burke Harris, M.D., MPH – California Surgeon General
- Karen Mark, M.D., PhD – Medical Director, Department of Health Care Services
- Melissa Merrick, PhD – President & CEO, Prevent Child Abuse America
- Brigid McCaw, M.D., MPH, MS, FACP – Clinical Advisor, ACEs Aware (CMA Member)
The webinar will provide an overview of the ACEs Aware initiative; why providers should screen for ACEs; the Medi-Cal certification and payment process; and screening tools, clinical protocols, and resources for providers. Interested physicians can register here.
