California Medical Association (CMA) President Peter N. Bretan, M.D., issued the following statement in response to the Trump Administration’s threat to withhold federal funding because of the state’s requirement that health insurance plans cover abortion:
 
“The California Medical Association strongly supports state policy that ensures access to care for patients. The latest actions from the Administration are counterproductive and a step in the wrong direction, and we will continue to fight for access to high quality health care for all Californians.”
