To encourage broader participation in the MACRA Quality Payment Program (QPP) for solo practitioners and groups with 10 or fewer eligible clinicians, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) created a virtual group option that starts with the 2018 performance period. The deadline to form a virtual group for the 2018 reporting year is December 31, 2017.
On Tuesday, November 21, CMS will host a webinar on participating in the QPP’s Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) as a virtual group for the 2018 performance period. The one-hour webinar will begin at 10 a.m. P.T.
A virtual group is a combination of two or more Taxpayer Identification Numbers (TINs) made up of one or more solo practitioners or one or more groups consisting of 10 or fewer clinicians (including at least 1 MIPS eligible clinician), or both, that elect to form a virtual group for a performance period for a year.
