The deadline to submit 2017 data for Medicare’s Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) has been extended to Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at 5 p.m. Pacific time. (Note: For groups that missed the March 16 deadline to submit data via the CMS Web Interface, it’s not too late to submit your data through another mechanism.)
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has also recently launched a new MACRA data submission tool. The tool provides physicians with instant feedback on the success of their submission and the points they will receive, which ultimately determines whether they receive a bonus payment. You can submit data for the quality, improvement activities, and advancing care information performance categories.
Data can be submitted or updated an unlimited number of times up to the April 3 deadline. Please note that the data submission feature doesn’t have a “save” or “submit” button. Instead, it automatically updates as you enter data. You will see your initial scores by performance category, indicating that CMS has received your data. If your file doesn’t upload, you’ll get a message noting that issue.
