Erin Mellon joined CMA in 2024 as Vice President of Strategic Communications. Prior to this role, Mellon served as Governor Newsom’s longest-tenured communications director, navigating the administration through a global pandemic, unprecedented wildfire seasons, severe droughts, flooding and a recall election.
Previously, she led communications for the California Department of Water Resources and worked for the California Natural Resources Agency. She also served as Communications Director for ChargePoint Inc., an international electric vehicle charging network, held positions with Mercury Public Affairs and Dewey Square Group, and worked on multiple statewide political campaigns.

The Center for Strategic Communications crafts and delivers the organization’s mission to members, health care stakeholders, media and the general public. The Center provides an internal and external resource through public affairs, media outreach, social media, video production and the development of marketing campaigns, newsletters, publications and webinars to effectively communicate the organization’s policy positions and strategic objectives.
